Eva Moskowitz – Helping Provide Education to the Minority Children Through Success Academy Charter School Network

Success Academy Charter Schools is the highest performing charter school network in the city of New York, founded by Eva Moskowitz. She is also the Chief Executive Officer of Success Academy. Her journey to success started in the year 2006 when she opened the first school, but in a short period, her school network grew exponentially, and now there are 32 Schools in the Success Academy Charter School network.

At present, more than 9,000 students are enrolled in the Success Academy Charter School network from the region of Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan. Even though the majority of the students in the Success Academy Charter School network come from a high-poverty background, they are known to outperform the students from the affluent schools regularly. The flagship school of the Success Academy in Harlem was chosen in 2012 to be the National Blue Ribbon School.

Her journey into the world of education and schools began when she served on the New York City Council, and chaired the Council’s Education Committee. She had the opportunity to visit hundreds of schools in the state and city of New York at that time and was known for her in-depth scrutiny and non-bias hearings.

Eva Moskowitz took her job seriously and investigated every aspect of school operations thoroughly, regardless of challenges. It is out of these experiences that she was able to design the curriculum and the system that the Success Academy Schools follow today. Her experiences and the information she gathered while visiting various schools also triggered her to ask for education reforms on a national scale.

Eva Moskowitz holds a Ph.D. from John Hopkins University in America History and has also done Bachelor of Arts from Pennsylvania University. She started her career by teaching civics to the minority students under the program named Prep for Prep.

She believes that the American Education System is failing and has many loopholes that need to be addressed and corrected as the knowledge that the students are getting from even the best of schools are not enough in today’s date. Eva Moskowitz has faced all the challenges single-handedly to make Success Academy Charter School Network a success in today’s date.
